The SBA Business Development Officer {BDO) is primarily respons·1ble for generating SBA loan production. In this capacity, the SBA BDO cultivates new and existing relationships to meet the needs of clients and prospects seeking access to capital. The BDO maintains and builds a network of SBA loan referral sources by working with internal and external centers of influence, commercial referral sources, and prospect lists. The SBA BDO assumes responsibility for managing the SBA loan request for the client/prospect end-to-end, while also maintaining a high level of communication with their processing/underwriting/closing team.


• Create and execute a viable plan to grow the SBA client portfolio through new loan origination, with focus on profitable revenue growth and the overall financial plan for the business
• Originate and fund new SBA loans through existing clients and new prospective clients to the bank; find business relationships with operating companies
• Develop and maintain a referral and prospecting network with customers/clients, peers, Business Bankers and other external centers of influence, spending a majority of time in the field through face to face interaction or telephone support
• Identify opportunities to solve client problems through disciplined, high-quality contact activities, fully leveraging available marketing resources and tools
• Analyze client and prospect loan needs and design solutions, working w·1th internal product partners and client team members that match those needs and maximize profitability and shareholder value
• Complete required documentation to support products and services offered to prospect; analyze financial documents to determine if the client has a viable opportunity to successfully repay the loan request
• Expertly handle and negotiate the client relationships and consummate the transaction arriving at agreements satisfactory to all parties


Required Skills & Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in SBA Lending
• An established reputation in SBA Lending and an existing book of business; should have an existing COi network and knowledge in the market with proven track record of prospecting new business and exceptional business development skills
• Resourceful, consistently and effectively networks within the community and centers of influence, both internally and externally
• Applies financial analysis expertise and product, industry and market knowledge
• Builds relationships and operates as a trusted partner; knows how to navigate the organization and leverage internal teammates
• Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrates sales ability; influences with impact
• Develops new client relationships and new business from existing clients and new prospects
• Demonstrates initiative and manages multiple priorities, exercising exceflent time management and follow up skills
• Adaptable, resilient, flexible, operates effectively in competitive situations


Desired Skills & Experience:

• BS/BA (business, finance or economics preferred)
• Completion of formal credit training strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
